We're our own worst critics. What if we were to only live from a place of purpose. By that I mean, live our lives daily as if we KNOW we have purpose and not just trying to convince ourselves. How differently would we view things and make decisions?<br />
<div>
<br /></div>

<div>
No Excuse For Greatness is about is not denying our progress. As human beings our lives are defined by experiences and choices, both good and bad. We make ourselves feel it when they're bad...the 'shoulda' 'woulda' 'coulda' moments. We decide within ourselves that we have a period of time to wallow in it. Then pick up, dust off and keep moving, sometimes recreating the same version of events if we haven't learned or spending a whole lot of time trying to not make the same mistakes. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
No Excuse for Greatness is about acknowledging we fought. We tend to downplay what we go through after time has passed. The sting isn't quite as hard. The roar emotions fade. Like a mother that's gone through hours and hours of labour, over the years the memory of the pain doesn't rip through her body. Doesn't mean she forgets the experience but it's definitely easier to talk about because when she looks at that child, she sees the purpose for that pain. It makes it easier and the focus becomes more on the beautiful child than on the pain. Why is it so much harder for us to let the pain fade and acknowledge that there was purpose in it. That we are who we are because of what we've been through.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhGKCAjUNzGkR1o4ZHZs6OnAY6DdlTqtaRiFo8xbXAKcIzWkZLVIbPHl3sz_oVpoy24wLmR5KYTyT8jYcxNcpdQY5StCjR1K-JIzL0ndQGWJ1uFpyu4dbxcKS6vNYZWZ3Mawmyu1CG9ba_i/s1600/IMG_7848.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhGKCAjUNzGkR1o4ZHZs6OnAY6DdlTqtaRiFo8xbXAKcIzWkZLVIbPHl3sz_oVpoy24wLmR5KYTyT8jYcxNcpdQY5StCjR1K-JIzL0ndQGWJ1uFpyu4dbxcKS6vNYZWZ3Mawmyu1CG9ba_i/s320/IMG_7848.JPG" width="320" /></a>No Excuse for Greatness is about standing in our truth. Once we make it out, let's not shy away from our truth. We alone know what our fight involved. It's okay to stand in who we are after our fight knowing that the time we spent praying, crying, fighting, hiding, believing...makes us who we are. Don't let anyone walking in at the end of our chapter, determine how we feel. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
They don't know what it took. They don't know our story. So confidently say Thank You when complimented on our end result. Confidently share what it took so they know it was a process. Confidently stand in our truth and what we came out of, knowing that we can help someone else reach their truth. Don't make excuses for who we are!! We are who we are because we've been through something and fought our way through. Don't deny it. Don't deny the prayers, the tears, the inner struggle. We lived it and we came through victorious. Stand tall knowing that this life is bigger than you. Don't deny the Greatness within You! Don't deny the God in You, especially when your story is far from over!!! </div>

There's always something to do, always an appointment, always someone depending on us, always preparation for another day...before you know it days turn into weeks, weeks turn into months and so on. <br />
<br />
<table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="float: right; margin-left: 1em; text-align: right;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjAP44gkPnvF9zVFY5GtfIW6kqxdnHP6tgyVCZQdH6OkSMwb8Z58mEJRLV24RZESf2XiVwxPDZiOUgGYl_L013DeThz7X5I_aWpH96GlNjLh-AD1nSfblAhRnJwG6W2SqNlgX6eWM-bGlsO/s1600/1158482_26652572-e1334856442930.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="211" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjAP44gkPnvF9zVFY5GtfIW6kqxdnHP6tgyVCZQdH6OkSMwb8Z58mEJRLV24RZESf2XiVwxPDZiOUgGYl_L013DeThz7X5I_aWpH96GlNjLh-AD1nSfblAhRnJwG6W2SqNlgX6eWM-bGlsO/s320/1158482_26652572-e1334856442930.jpg" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Image: simplescrapper.com</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
Then we make comments like "time flies" when we stop for a moment to think on something that strikes us at that moment. It all happens so fast.<br />
We have drastic moments when someone we care about or someone who has had an impact at some stage in our life, passes away. Usually that's the moment we stop time and the busyness of life to really think about how that person has affected our life. Where we'd be if we hadn't met them? The many conversations we had? The last time we saw them? It really becomes a moment of reflection. Then as time leads to their memorial we think about what we would have said to them if we saw them one last time. If only they knew...<br />
<br />
<table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="float: left; margin-right: 1em; text-align: left;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjriuNjaAJeC-U2FEQbT_YSidulHGeTfNewBv3fLeI5_Dv0prnI5JB2gVoGlf6zWIFiujfe7VIzDwuGUghAdbMZ0HYOm5qrFuKoZIQ2o7pHQeC18W5djOUOVKCNWN597nqRw5m7tOvsUiui/s1600/tumblr_m2bqinM0Tc1r2u2x5o1_500.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjriuNjaAJeC-U2FEQbT_YSidulHGeTfNewBv3fLeI5_Dv0prnI5JB2gVoGlf6zWIFiujfe7VIzDwuGUghAdbMZ0HYOm5qrFuKoZIQ2o7pHQeC18W5djOUOVKCNWN597nqRw5m7tOvsUiui/s200/tumblr_m2bqinM0Tc1r2u2x5o1_500.jpg" width="200" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Image: ilovemygrandfather.tumblr.com</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
Today, I want to challenge you to not wait till that moment. Live your life in a way that causes you to let your loved ones and acquaintances know how you feel about them or about what they've done to cause change in your life. Don't wait for a funeral, or a birthday, or an anniversary. How about you let them know just because you don't know when that last moment will be. Keep in mind, there's more to this... imagine if we lived a life where we knew what we meant to others. What kind of fuel, encouragement or drive would that give us to keep fighting through, to walk in our purpose, to continue to look past our situation and follow through. We'd help each other live a more fulfilling and purposeful life.<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br />
Let's also teach our children, nieces & nephews and all the children in our life. Teach them to not wait. Teach them to seize every moment to be that catalyst, to not waste moments thinking they have time but to do what their hearts lead them to do. It could mean a world of difference for someone else. <br />
<br /></div>
</div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="clear: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: right;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiJtSD0noLuFKOMVhVFfQEzXbIA6a3T3yfAx6BGANrGbAOJFABR_PVg1q4ZO-OAaHC_XqUInhk3yfgqBA99iHp-pZ2etxDfxPvn9p0z3SMpnIP0YNT74tcPX3_zFPBqdWZHRNq8o_FbGqDj/s1600/rj2_lead_t658.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="172" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiJtSD0noLuFKOMVhVFfQEzXbIA6a3T3yfAx6BGANrGbAOJFABR_PVg1q4ZO-OAaHC_XqUInhk3yfgqBA99iHp-pZ2etxDfxPvn9p0z3SMpnIP0YNT74tcPX3_zFPBqdWZHRNq8o_FbGqDj/s320/rj2_lead_t658.jpg" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Image: sandiegoreader.com</td></tr>

Let's not waste time thinking we have time. Let's let it become the way we live. Let's use our time wisely to create change and not have to regret. Turn the "I wish they knew how they changed my life" to "I'm glad they know how I feel about them!"<br />
<br />

Everyone's journey is different. Everyone's story is different. Your story and your journey affects your perspective on things. I went from being petrified of turning 40 to feeling exhilarated about it. Let me explain...<br />
<br />
Initially I was petrified because it seemed like it was happening too fast. Time seemed like it was going faster than I could accomplish my goals. Was I getting old? Well that's one way to look at it...a negative perspective. I grew tired of that spot! Why sit there and just waste even more time?<br />
<br />
Then I grew to accept that 40 was coming whether I was ready or not. With accepting came making the decision to not focus on what I hadn't yet done, but to find the drive and enthusiasm to tackle all my outstanding action items from a place of thankfulness. I'm thankful that I'm still here. I'm thanking that I find strength and direction from the God I love and serve. I'm thankful for what I've already done that I thought I couldn't. I'm thankful that I still have today. <br />
<br />
Now I'm just excited. I'm excited that I finally, after a long journey...I finally love me!! This is the most confident I've ever been! With all my imperfections, with all my shortcomings, with all my curves, with all the growing I still have to do, I Love Me!! I will strive to be better, do better, learn, grow and GIVE!! When I look back on life I want to see how I made this world better and how I enriched those around me. Those are the things that I will find value in and pass on to my children. <br />
<br />
So 40...let's go!! I'll love, give and strive before you get here...and long after I pass you!<br />
<br />

<b>Don't second guess yourself. As crazy as your random thoughts can be sometimes...you're spot on!</b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<b><br /></b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<b>You're such a perfectionist at work. Take it easy. Don't overdo it, you'll make yourself sick...literally.</b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<b><br /></b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<b>Lastly, you are enough! Don't spend so much time comparing how you measure up to others. They haven't walked in your shoes! You have what it takes! What you dream about is an indication of what God wants for you!</b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
This was a great exercise! I wouldn't take away my experiences because they made me who I am today, but I would change my perspective on how I viewed those experiences! </div>

It's a slow start but a start none the less. Since then we've made some progress. We've come up with a way to incorporate greens into almost everything we eat. <br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Firstly we blended a huge batch of kale and spinach. We added water as required by the blender to keep things moving. We then used ice trays to freeze our blend. This way we can add our preferred amount of cubes when cooking our meals and no one will know the difference. Tried it and couldn't taste a thing.</div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light', HelveticaNeue-Light, helvetica, arial, sans-serif;"><br />
</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light', HelveticaNeue-Light, helvetica, arial, sans-serif;"></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light', HelveticaNeue-Light, helvetica, arial, sans-serif;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi_y7nuEWlj38sXQ0Lw5Gh1MvD85TkBeAMdSi87mKlxDC1PY50Hl1A3UlrFDdwZLGD0O-ePXoSw7G6lHyhZBi6DidnqZaX57HMjMuNS-TeaHXzQUcupuOwOX2fJ1Ekqo2ZMwYEDyfqOpDaU/s640/blogger-image-1619377712.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi_y7nuEWlj38sXQ0Lw5Gh1MvD85TkBeAMdSi87mKlxDC1PY50Hl1A3UlrFDdwZLGD0O-ePXoSw7G6lHyhZBi6DidnqZaX57HMjMuNS-TeaHXzQUcupuOwOX2fJ1Ekqo2ZMwYEDyfqOpDaU/s320/blogger-image-1619377712.jpg" width="320" /></a></span></div>
<span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light', HelveticaNeue-Light, helvetica, arial, sans-serif;"><br />
</span></div>
<div>
<div>
Secondly, we juiced our remaining batch of kale and spinach. We also juiced broccoli, cucumber and celery. We strained our juice to get it nice and smooth then used our ice trays to freeze it. Such an easy way to add as many cubes as we like to our juices and fruit smoothies. The kids love it. Hubby loves it. I love it and we've gone from very little greens to incorporating potent amounts into our daily diet. </div>
</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh4mFvy9PTV87aghvzgI44Mr4_AoCeroh-FVPuvmKhqzk2803TY-wfcHVlNRXcKPMuMWSMprbIdBXgZ2A80PdaYlAQsBExo4rjby9K6f_TOhoxD5q0E72OenZkoOqXvwHV9BRJ8tzyOXWsS/s640/blogger-image-401341362.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh4mFvy9PTV87aghvzgI44Mr4_AoCeroh-FVPuvmKhqzk2803TY-wfcHVlNRXcKPMuMWSMprbIdBXgZ2A80PdaYlAQsBExo4rjby9K6f_TOhoxD5q0E72OenZkoOqXvwHV9BRJ8tzyOXWsS/s320/blogger-image-401341362.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
If you're not big on greens or vegetables, this is an amazing way to get it in daily. You can infuse your choice of cubes (blended or juiced) into soups, juices, sauces, stews, etc. I'm assuming you can do this with all veggies and fruit especially if you have picky eaters at home. This option also allows us to pick up more fruits and vegetables when they are on sale without it going bad in the fridge within a short period of time. Brilliant!!</div>
<br />

I was inspired by canvases on <a href="http://www.pinterest.com/natphillip/wall-art-diy/" target="_blank">my Pinterest board</a>. It was hard to keep it under wraps but I pulled it off. My recipe has been tweaked a little after making it quite a few times and trying different things. I've made it for a few gatherings and it is always considered simple and moist. It is so easy to make and a good way to put those spotted bananas that get treated like the plague, to good use. No electronic mixers needed!<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>

<div>
3/4 cup sugar</div>
<div>
1 beaten egg</div>
<div>
1 tsp vanilla</div>
<div>
1 tsp baking soda</div>
<div>
1 1/2 cup flour</div>
<div>
1/3 cup chocolate chips (optional)</div>

</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
1. Preheat oven at 350 degrees (F)</div>
<div>
2. Mash bananas in large bowl.</div>
<div>
3. Add butter and mix.</div>
<div>
4. Add sugar, egg and vanilla.</div>

I just can't help it. It brings fun and variation to teaching. Today I had a fantabulous idea! <br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
We are due to renew a few passports at my house so I picked up the forms and decided to grab an extra one so my daughter Tri (10 years old) can attempt to fill it out. Both she and I were super pumped. Yes!! Life skill lesson 299 lol. You wouldn't believe how many discussions, explanations and aha moments we had! She had to lookup info as well and copy registration numbers and the like. It was great. Sometimes it's the simple things that teach the most. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I challenge you to give your preteen a form to fill out next time you have one. Have them use pencil or just get an extra one. Great learning experience and another way to spend constructive quality time.</div>

Besides the assumption of it being healthy because it fits into the 'leafy greens' category, it is known to lower cholesterol, fight cancer and support a healthy immune system and digestion among other things (see image below). For the last three years we have taken a gradual turn to be <i>HEALTHier</i> and loving the results. Kale was the next challenge. <br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
</div>
<div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://positivemed.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/kale-the-healthiest-vegetable.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://positivemed.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/kale-the-healthiest-vegetable.png" height="220" width="400" /></a></div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
First we tried to make Kale chips!! I'm not sure if we didn't use the correct type of Kale (there is a variety out there) or it just wasn't our day, but it was terrible. Hated it. Lol. It actually turned us off a little. More recently I bought a new blender (exciting indeed...lol) so we thought we'd try blending the Kale into our smoothies. By the way, we've been making smoothies daily and it's a huge hit for both the young and the more mature in my household. Lol. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
We blended the Kale first until completely smooth then added our regular fruit, etc. and it was actually good. We were all in shock! Not sure what we were expecting....actually who am I kidding, we were expecting to hate it. Lol. For now, this is our only method of Kale intake. We will certainly keep trying. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div>
<br></div>
<div>
I was born and raised in Trinidad and migrated to Canada with my mother at the tender age of 13. I love where I'm from and regret not being able to go back often. Trinidad is a wonderful place and I have tons of family left there. It was a very difficult transition in regards to culture and school but I got through it thank God (maybe I'll blog about that lol).</div>
<div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br></div>
</div>
<div>
I transitioned well into high school and eventually met my love (Junior) who I've been married to for 13 years. We've been together a total of 18 years and our amazing friendship is what keeps me sane lol. He will soon be a guest blogger as well, he just doesn't know yet lol. You'll love him :-)</div>

<div>
We have 3 extremely energetic, talented and witty girls ages 10 years (Tri), 6 years (Nai) and 2 years (Mali). They are a great balance between being girly and cute, as well as tough and competitive all at the same time. They teach me so much so there will always be a blog post about them lol. My plan is also for Tri to be a guest blogger for kids (or from a kid's point of view) as well. She has a lot to say lol.</div>

There's a lot I enjoy doing but to be honest, I'm on my way to finding my groove again. I got caught up in mommy-ing for the past decade so I'm enjoying reinventing myself as I approach 40! Perfect timing lol (blog post). I am finally comfortable in my own skin without apologies...expect blogs on that too lol.</div>

My goal is to share my life experiences, mistakes, triumphs and my faith on a practical level. I've always loved to write so the merging of all of this creates the perfect forum for this stay-at-home mom and homeschooler (yep blogs on that too lol). I'm not here to chase for followers or act like I've got everything down. I'm just here to be real, honest and to have an outlet to share, learn and grow. This blog was a step out to challenge myself and get out there for ME. ALL THINGS GIRLY ME!! Thanks for stopping by and I hope you'll come again :-)</div>

Have you ever had one of those days where you literally thought your kids were out to get you? Lol. Seriously! I have those days occasionally. I am convinced they wake up and plan one thing after the next non-stop. Someone is fighting, someone gets hurt, someone throws a tantrum, someone ate something they shouldn't, someone decides to be an artist in the hallway or on the carpet, someone is hungry five minutes after they ate...I mean the list goes on. Sounds hilarious now but when it's happening, not so much. My husband then gets one of these texts at work, "Come get your kids!!" Lol. This is not everyday but it happens.<br />

<br />
Thank God he is one of those men that just makes everything better by the calmness in his voice. Of course that support brings the waterworks and I just feel silly for having a horrible day. Lol. He always reassures me that I'm doing the best I can and it is appreciated. Sometimes as moms we want to do it and be it all. He tells me all the time, my expectations are so high of myself that I tend to make it unreachable for my own self. It's so true. Then I think the kids are out to get me. Makes me chuckle when I think about it. It's actually a running joke between hubby and I. If you are a single mom or you don't have a spouse that can bring reassurance, find that go-to person you can trust who can be there for you. It makes a world of difference.<br />
<br />
During those days when I've felt like I've reached my breaking point. We go down this checklist...</div>
<div>
</div>
<br />
<div>
<b>Am I taking my iron?</b></div>
<div>
Believe it or not, if your iron is low it has a serious affect on your mood and tolerance level. For the longest time I struggled with keeping up at home. Went to the doctor for a regular checkup and found out my iron was dangerously low, making me feel extremely tired, irritable and affecting my entire daily function. I was prescribed iron pills and within a few days of taking them I felt a significant change in my mind and body.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<b>Am I getting enough sleep?</b></div>
<div>
Sometimes I don't even realize how little sleep I get especially if the kids get sick one after the other. Other times I just like to stay up late because with everyone in bed, I can quietly watch a movie, read a book or catch up with social media. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<b>Am I making time for myself?</b></div>
<div>
Sometimes a little TLC to just breathe is what I need to regroup and face the little people that are 'not out to get me' lol. Grab a girlfriend for coffee, run to the store and just browse, go for a drive, browse Pinterest or whatever you prefer.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<b>Is there too much happening?</b></div>
<div>
We've got practices, homeschool, play groups, appointments, basically everything that needs to get done. When I just <b>STOP</b> and play with the kids for a while, take time to look into their tiny faces, laugh with them, answer their well thought out questions about random life issues like cheese and fishes lol....well, I just gain perspective and realize they are more important than all of it. They are who we're doing all of this for. Just enjoy them before they grow up and I wish for the time back that I have with them now.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">sandyhaight.com/portfolios/line-art</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br /></div>
<div>
From here I pray and ask God for strength and wisdom to be what they need and to help me find balance so I can enjoy it ALL. Once strengthened I keep it moving until the next bad day, then we start again lol.</div>

Since then I have been trying new canvases, mirroring as best I can. Here are my results so far. On the left are the original images. On the right is my depiction. This year we decided to do DIY Christmas gifts and the more time passes, the happier I am with that decision. We are doing canvas paintings for those near and dear to us.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
>> It's a great way to get the kids involved and to nurture the spirit of giving for Christmas as we spend time preparing and creating.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
>> It's personal and memorable. Imagine going to a friend or family's home over the next few years and seeing an art piece that I created with my little ones...with all the love and time we put into it.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
>> It gets me away from the hustle and bustle and gives me more time with the kids during the Christmas season. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
>> It creates memories with them and for them and they will take a lot of pride in presenting their piece. We are NOT artists so this is a whole new experience for us. We're learning together.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
>> As a homeschooler this also becomes our art sessions for the next two months. We have 10 or more canvases to complete.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
>> It's low-budget.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Here is the 'Under the Sea' canvas we're working on. Remember it's a work in progress so please don't judge our artistic skills yet. LOL. I can't show you the finished product until after Christmas when everyone receives their canvas. Some recipients read this blog and we still want the element of surprise. LOL. <br />

It was such an odd place to be. I had my mom on one end and my daughter on another. <br>
<div>
<br></div>
<div>
We are raising our girls to let their voices be heard. To speak up if there is an issue and to do their best to find a resolve especially if it's someone you care deeply about. My daughter found it difficult to express her feelings of frustration to Grandma without crossing the line of being disrespectful. So here I was, the mediator between the two, helping my mom understand my daughter's frustrations and helping my daughter understand that Grandma always has her best interest at heart. Though Grandma's delivery can be somewhat firm at times, she shouldn't walk away in frustration and hold things in especially when Grandma does not realize she's upset. I had to explain to my mom that she should hear her out regardless of how wrong she thinks her grand-baby is. Give her a chance to explain her logic then show her.</div>
<div>
<br></div>
<div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

</div>
<div>
<br></div>
<div>
Initially I thought my daughter just had a thing about being right, but she explained that she's okay being wrong as long as her side is heard. She wanted a voice. It then dawned on me that this is how relationships can be silently destroyed from a young age. This is how some adults grow up to become poor communicators. Kids are not 'just kids', especially if we want them to become effective communicators and thinkers. It's so important to give them a voice and to support them as they try to find their way. Let's also continue to seize each moment and find the lesson in everything. It changes our outlook on life and in return affects the lives around us....those before us AND those after us!</div>

I don't know about you but in my house spotted bananas can be treated like the plague. Maybe I'm late on this train but you can peel and freeze them according to size depending on how you will use it later. Freeze them individually using plastic wrap. I saw a friend do this a few days ago. Brilliant! The frozen bananas are perfect for smoothies and milkshakes, eliminating the need for ice. You can defrost and blend or mash them for baking. Great tip.<br />

<br />
She said she also freezes her tomatoes and adds it to her pot as needed. Haven't tried that one yet. Nevertheless, I no longer have to try to eat all the spotted bananas myself, nor do I have to continually make banana bread so my bananas don't go to waste. Thanks for the tip Nadine! My banana bread is amazing by the way. Moist and yummy...stay tuned for the "no blend" recipe.</div>

<span style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);">Let's face it, we have mixed feelings when it comes to our kids growing up. We love the milestones and the independence. On the other hand some of us dread PUBERTY! It's even harder when puberty starts early. Ugh. Lol.</span></div>
<div>
<br></div>
<div>
To be honest as a parent, I freaked out at first. It took time to gather my thoughts and accept that this was happening to my baby. Ugh. Lol. Then it occurred to me that this is one of those milestones that can make or break my future relationship with my daughter. Do I always want her to come to mommy no matter what it is? Absolutely. So it starts here. My reaction and the way I introduced her to this new world would affect her perception of it. Get it together Nat! I swear sometimes I'm Pablo's twin sister (Backyardigan watchers will get it lol). </div>
<div>
<br></div>
<div>
A friend once told me that books work best. Get a book on puberty and read it together or have him/her read it, then discuss. Well it worked! This made it so easy on my head. Lol. Thanks Lisa. I found a book series I was comfortable with and incorporated it into our daily reading. We read it together and it opened a fantastic dialog that made it enjoyable for us both. This series was perfect as it broke down the info by age. I also used it as a guide so I didn't have to worry about how much info I needed to cover. We are still reading it. It's a good idea to read ahead so you can have the heads up on what's coming and so you can take a break if you think your child is not ready for the info. Puberty has since become an enjoyable experience for us and I no longer feel unprepared or overwhelmed. Thank God for good books!! </div>
<div>
<br></div>
<div>
Below is the book series we used. There is a series for boys as well and they are both available on Amazon. There are tons of books out there, find one that works for you and your child. Leave your comments and tell me how you handled or are handling puberty at your house. I'd love to get some more pointers.</div>

I spend $2 for a bottle of vinegar and I'm good for a very long time...and I've got laundry for my family of six! Lol. </div>

<b><i>Don't go spending more than $2 on vinegar people! It's the same vinegar, the brand does not make a difference.</i></b></div>

<div>
No your clothes will not smell like vinegar. It actually smells like the laundry detergent.</div>
<div>
<br></div>
<div>
Yes it will be fluffy.</div>

<br></div>
<div>
No it will not be full of static after the dryer. <i>Look out for my tip on DRYER BALLS</i>...this helps with static too.</div>

<div>
<b>Quick Note: I find it most effective when I add the vinegar while the water is filling up. I pour it in right under the stream of water. I think it mixes in much better.</b></div>

Today I decided to finally take a leap of faith and start a blog. I've wanted to do it for so long but always found a reason to put it off. No more of that. In this day and age with social media being the main outlet for most, what better way to do what you love from the comfort of your own home. <b>Why not?!?</b> So many times I learn something, come across a great find or just have an 'Aha Moment' as Oprah would call it. I literally say <b>EVERY WOMAN NEEDS TO KNOW!!</b> I share it with my closest girlfriends and it ends there. Well, I want to share it with anyone and everyone. <b>I'm talking anything and everything!!</b> So <b>WHY NOT</b> start a blog! Lol. Since I made the step ideas are just flowing. I hope I can type fast enough. Lol. Stay tuned. It will not disappoint. Welcome to <b><i>ALL THINGS GIRLY ME!!! :-)</i></b><br />
